The Pompidou

We don't have a picture that fully captures the furutistic design of this multi-purpose center and museum for modern art. The lifts, stairs, escalators and ventilation shafts are fitted to the outside in order to leave as much free space as possible on the inside.
The Pompidou was a favorite place of ours in Paris.

Here, we enjoyed a interactive exhibit for children (of all ages) using everyday objects. Objects are used by the French artist Arman in his works currently on display upstairs in the museum.

From the top of the Pompidou, we had one of our best views of snowy Paris,
.

...tasted some of the best-ever mint tea and hot chocolate, served to us in this modern art cafe,

and saw some of our favorite pieces of art. We learned on this trip that this was Matisse's favorite work. A print of it hangs on our dining room wall at home in Seattle:

(We wish a print of this Matisse, or this one, hung there, too.)

We thought the largest contribution to modern art was French Impressionism. But, look what followed after the inspiration of the French Impressionists:

We loved the modern art in the Pompidou, and loved, really, all of the art in Paris, as you will see in our blog!
